ROSSANA DURAN
ABOUT ME
I started drawing at the age of 4. It was something that came naturally to me, where I found the playful space that colors, paper and ink gave me. See: El librito de la niña Azul.
PAINTER
I was born in Mexico City in 1955.
I think I still approach painting the same way as yesterday, because in it I find that space of expansion and freshness that I long for in this complex and fascinating world at the same time.
Artistically speaking, I have been faithful to color management since then. I want to find in my works the result where color as a protagonist is added to an almost musical composition that contains and animates it.
For this presentation I have chosen some pieces from 33 years ago that at the time formed families and that today can be contrasted with current ones.
I have always approached small and large formats – I believe a lot in what each one contributes to the plastic experience – !!
At this moment in my life I live in three countries: Switzerland, Mexico and Tenerife and my painting comes from the influence that I receive and perceive in each of these beloved places. I mainly live in Switzerland next to my husband Marc Kuhn, Swiss writer and painter, and founder of the international Col-Art movement, Zurich 1968. See: www.col-art.ch – and – Youtube: Col-Art in 12 questions.
By his side for 13 years we have together encouraged this artistic movement that brings a fresh and libertarian look to creatives around the world.
My brother Rubén and my two wonderful daughters Ana and Paula live in Mexico. My professional life moves in these three wonderful regions of the world that today I want to share on these pages.
I hope we meet and contribute something beautiful to the planet.
Friendly, Rossana Durán
